Genki World Explorer
Genki World Explorer is a health insurance plan designed for travelers such as digital nomads and backpackers. It provides coverage for periods ranging from one month to two years, and is offered on a monthly subscription basis that can be cancelled at any time.
The price of the plan depends on factors such as age, region of coverage, and deductible. The plan covers medical treatment at any authorized healthcare provider around the world, including inpatient and outpatient visits. It also includes limited dental and mental health treatment. In the event of a COVID-19 diagnosis, there is no cost limit for treatment and the plan will be noted on your certificate for immigration purposes. Quarantine costs are not covered as they are not considered medically necessary.
The plan covers sports injuries and offers 24/7 emergency assistance and direct billing for hospital stays. It also covers the travel costs for a family member or close friend to visit in the event of a hospital stay lasting longer than five days, and covers medical transport costs to the nearest appropriate hospital.
Pregnancy check-ups, ultrasounds, treatment for complications, labor and delivery, and postnatal care are also covered up to a certain amount. The plan offers emergency dental treatment and initial outpatient treatment for mental illnesses, as well as emergency inpatient treatment for first-time mental or emotional disorders. Medication and materials deemed medically necessary are also covered.
The plan is available for worldwide coverage or worldwide coverage excluding Canada and the US, with the latter option limiting coverage in those countries to six weeks out of every 180 days. To maintain the plan, policyholders must file claims as quickly as possible, release their doctor from the physician-patient privilege if needed, and provide proof of prior healthcare coverage if seeking reimbursement for costs incurred during the waiting period.
The plan becomes effective at midnight in Germany's time zone on the date of purchase and is active for two years. It can be cancelled at any time on the website, with the option for a refund within the first 14 days of purchase.
The risk is carried by Allianz Partners and administration and claims is handled by Dr-Walter.
